UOL Student Life App

In August 2020 Student Life launched the UoL Student Life App as part of the OfS Transitional Mental Health project, but remaining as an app for all students after the projects completion. The app offers a feed of content which incorporates posts from various departments across the university in one easy to find place; it can also send push notifications, putting the content right in front of students’ eyes. These posts can also be directed at certain students based on their year, school/department and degree type.

The app also offers ‘challenges’, where students can join a challenge alongside other students to do various activities to better their mental wellbeing, and habits, where students can track their activities in certain segments to encourage maintaining healthy habits.

The ‘Wellbeing’ section allows students to track their habits in five different segments: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give. Within each segments there are a variety of prompts for activities which are healthy habits with the option to also add a custom activity. The opportunity to view tracked habits at a glance can encourage students to regularly ‘check in’ and complete ‘streaks’.

The ‘Support’ section provides direct access to support services across the University, including information from Student Support, Student Life, the Student Wellbeing Centre and Careers & Employability. It also contains links to the ‘Fresher Take’ podcast and videos from Student Life.
